Seth Rogen "Not Going to Answer" if Pot Was Real at MTV Movie AwardsCategory: Cinema & TV - Posted by: rapvirus on Jun 3rd, 2008Who got the biggest buzz at Sunday's MTV Movie Awards? Pineapple Express stars Seth Rogen and James Franco, who said they were smoking "fake weed" as they presented the award for "best summer movie so far." They joked that MTV chose them becaus...e only "two potheads like us" would be willing to announce such a weird category. As they pulled out a "huge fatty joint" and lit it, cameras pulled to a wide angle and stayed that way until the two left the stage. (See more outrageous photos from the show.) New York's Daily News wrote that the "sweet scent wafting through the Gibson Amphitheatre suggested the herb was real." Added Robert Downey Jr. (whose film Iron Man won): "Thanks for that intoxicating introduction." Rogen refused to reveal if the pot were real. "I'm not going to answer that question," he told the Daily News. Asked what was in the bag, Franco told the Associated Press, "I don't know! MTV gave it to us." He said MTV asked them to do the joke, even providing them with the script and fake weed. Before they went on, he said, "backstage there was this big commotion: 'You guys can't [do] that.'" |

Robert Downey Jr. To Play Hugh Hefner?Category: Cinema & TV - Posted by: rapvirus on May 25th, 2008From iron suit to velvet smoking jacket, Robert Downey Jr. is rumored to play the billionaire PLAYBOY Hugh Hefner in his upcoming biopic. Well, at this point, they've gotta make the film before he's dead...and that probably isn't too far off. Th...e Chicago Sun Times is reporting that the HEF has given his blessing for Downey Jr. to bring his story to the big screen. He may have given his blessing, but with no script and no director it sounds like this project may be going nowhere fast. Downey's publicists feel the same, "A representative for the actor said he's interested in the Hefner project but is unlikely to commit to it until a script is done and a director is named," says CST. They better act fast, IRON MAN 2 is set to start production early next year. |

Gwyneth In BloomCategory: Cinema & TV - Posted by: rapvirus on May 16th, 2008Gwyneth Paltrow appears on the June 2008 cover of V Magazine. Here’ what the 35-year-old actress had to say: On why she decided to do Iron Man: “Well, it has a really good cast-Robert Downey Jr., Jeff Bridges, and Terrence Howard. That’s why... I did it. Essentially I hadn’t worked for a long time because I really liked being a mommy at home.” On what it means for a director to be good with actors: “There is an underlying belief in you, so you feel safe. And because there’s an underlying respect, you feel you can try things. James [Favreau] was like: I don’t want any walls between you and the camera. I want the real deal all the time. It felt like I was able to explore a different way of acting in this movie. I feel like since I’ve had my kids I’ve become very economical in how I get to where I’m going.” |

Jon Favreau Still Not Signed to Iron Man SequelCategory: Cinema & TV - Posted by: rapvirus on May 15th, 2008As of Tuesday morning, Jon Favreau is still unsigned for a Iron Man sequel. After much harassment, Favreau revealed that he made $4 million for the first film and has a NET profit deal which would give him a very small percentage of the money once th...e film begins to turn a profit. But Farveau says he won’t see any money of that Net profit money for years, if at all. Jon claims that while Elf cost only $32 million to film, and made over $125 million at the box office, the film technically still hasn’t made a profit yet. That’s shady Hollywood accounting for you. Favreau estimated that Iron Man was probably made for around $140 million. And while all the stars of the first film are signed to three films, Farveau admits that doesn’t necessarily mean they have to come back. |

Marvel Wants Brad Pitt for Thor?Category: Cinema & TV - Posted by: rapvirus on May 14th, 2008Our friends at LatinoReview are reporting that Marvel wants Brad Pitt for the upcoming big screen adaptation of Thor. Let’s face it, isn’t Brad Pitt on every project’s preliminary casting lists for dream stars? Of course, no offer has been made... to the star, and when one is, I doubt he would actually be interested (but you never know with these Iron Man $$$ numbers). Would Pitt make a good Thor? You certainly need someone with acting skills to pull off this role. The old school approach of casting a muscular model-like actor like Arnold could only result in an extremely cheesy film. |

Box Office Tracking: Iron Man targets $102M by Monday MorningCategory: Cinema & TV - Posted by: Lion30 on May 1st, 2008I did a personal survey of studio sources today, and they were unanimous in saying that the release of Grand Theft Auto IV, the Xbox 360 and Sony Playstation 3 video game sensation released on Tuesday, will have absolutely no effect whatsoever on the... box office performance of Iron Man (Paramount) this weekend. As I wrote on Monday, this Jon Favreau-directed comic book adaptation is out-tracking last summer’s Dreamworks/Paramount smash Transformers, which is no small feat. Iron Man is not one of Marvel’s “top shelf” comic book heroes, and yet they have self-financed a film that is getting raves from critics (93% Fresh at Rotten Tomatoes) and industry tracking shows Un-Aided Awareness, an excellent measure of buzz and anticipation, approaching 30%. |
