Eva Longoria: Superhero Ambitions?Category: Cinema & TV - Posted by: rapvirus on Sep 14th, 2008Eva Longoria the superhero? That may just be the case, as the “Desperate Housewives” actress visited the Beverly Hills office building which happens to be the home to Marvel Comics on Friday (September 12). Upon finishing up with her meeting, ...Eva was carrying old back issues of Marvel’s series “The Avengers” - which interestingly enough is being written into a movie by Zak Penn, slated to be ready for a 2011 release date. |

Marvel Wants Brad Pitt for Thor?Category: Cinema & TV - Posted by: rapvirus on May 14th, 2008Our friends at LatinoReview are reporting that Marvel wants Brad Pitt for the upcoming big screen adaptation of Thor. Let’s face it, isn’t Brad Pitt on every project’s preliminary casting lists for dream stars? Of course, no offer has been made... to the star, and when one is, I doubt he would actually be interested (but you never know with these Iron Man $$$ numbers). Would Pitt make a good Thor? You certainly need someone with acting skills to pull off this role. The old school approach of casting a muscular model-like actor like Arnold could only result in an extremely cheesy film. |

Box Office: Iron Man with $35M Friday, headed for $91M+ Opening Weekend!Category: Cinema & TV - Posted by: rapvirus on May 4th, 2008After grabbing $5.2M in Thursday night advance screenings, Iron Man (Paramount) has soared to an estimated $35M on Friday. With near-perfect reviews, an A-list cast, including Robert Downey, Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow and Terrence Howard, and excellent wor...d-of-mouth, this first film financed by Marvel Studios will likely power to a staggering $91M+ by Monday morning, and that’s a conservative estimate. |

TRAILER: The Incredible Hulk Movie Trailer #2Category: Cinema & TV - Posted by: Lion30 on May 1st, 2008It all comes down to this new trailer for The Incredible Hulk, with the Marvel reboot’s release on June 13th fast approaching and its positioning as the caboose of summer superhero flicks pretty much a lock as far as expectations and buzz go. This ...second trailer is far more well-rounded than the first in my opinion, which mounted everything on the Hulk’s rather predictable-looking end battle with Abomination. Moreover, there is a nice amount of fresh and promising footage with the Hulk and with Edward Norton here, the latter of which has an agreeably slick general blockbuster Bourne-like feel to it. |

Box Office Tracking: Iron Man targets $102M by Monday MorningCategory: Cinema & TV - Posted by: Lion30 on May 1st, 2008I did a personal survey of studio sources today, and they were unanimous in saying that the release of Grand Theft Auto IV, the Xbox 360 and Sony Playstation 3 video game sensation released on Tuesday, will have absolutely no effect whatsoever on the... box office performance of Iron Man (Paramount) this weekend. As I wrote on Monday, this Jon Favreau-directed comic book adaptation is out-tracking last summer’s Dreamworks/Paramount smash Transformers, which is no small feat. Iron Man is not one of Marvel’s “top shelf” comic book heroes, and yet they have self-financed a film that is getting raves from critics (93% Fresh at Rotten Tomatoes) and industry tracking shows Un-Aided Awareness, an excellent measure of buzz and anticipation, approaching 30%. |

A Few G.I. Joe Details!Category: Cinema & TV - Posted by: rapvirus on Mar 25th, 2008Access Hollywood is reporting on next summer's big-screen GI Joe flick and have revealed a few plot details to whet the fans' appetites. Much of what's said confirms that the film sticks pretty closely to the source material of both the 80's carto...on and the Marvel comics of the same era. A lot of little details like black hair for the Baroness should bring bring fans some relief but with last week's dead-on Snake Eyes photo, it's looking like the film is in good hands. Also of interest is the mention that the film -- which serves as an origin story -- will address some little bits of backstory never explained in the cartoon or comic like Despero's metallic head and Snake Eyes inability (or unwillingness) to talk. There's also a little tease from Paramount regarding the "...and knowing is half the battle!" where we're told we'll have to wait and see. Let's hope they've already thought of a way to get it into the film. |

Norton & Universal "Hulk" ArgumentsCategory: Cinema & TV - Posted by: rapvirus on Mar 13th, 2008On the eve of the debut of the first trailer for Marvel and Universal's big-budget "The Incredible Hulk", word has leaked out at Deadline Hollywood Daily that a behind-the-scenes feud is underway. Seems that the film's writer and lead star Edward ...Norton is in disagreement with Marvel Studios over editing and final cut of the film. Norton, director Louis Leterrier, Marvel Studios chairman David Maisel and Marvel Studios president of production Kevin Feige have apparently been in tense talks this week to try and resolve the problem. |
