Box Office Tracking: Iron Man targets $102M by Monday Morning

Box Office Tracking: Iron Man targets $102M by Monday Morning

Category: Cinema & TV  - Posted by: Lion30  on May 1st, 2008

I did a personal survey of studio sources today, and they were unanimous in saying that the release of Grand Theft Auto IV, the Xbox 360 and Sony Playstation 3 video game sensation released on Tuesday, will have absolutely no effect whatsoever on the... box office performance of Iron Man (Paramount) this weekend. As I wrote on Monday, this Jon Favreau-directed comic book adaptation is out-tracking last summer’s Dreamworks/Paramount smash Transformers, which is no small feat. Iron Man is not one of Marvel’s “top shelf” comic book heroes, and yet they have self-financed a film that is getting raves from critics (93% Fresh at Rotten Tomatoes) and industry tracking shows Un-Aided Awareness, an excellent measure of buzz and anticipation, approaching 30%.

Lindsay Lohan is Back To Partying All Night

Can you believe it? After a horribly tumultuous year in 2007, Lindsay Lohan has returned to her all-night-partying ways, and she’s certainly not apologizing for it. The “Georgia Rule” actress was spotted out on the town in NYC, hitting up se...veral nightclubs. She visited the Beatrice Inn, as well as The Box, and One Oak before disappearing into the night. And all the while, she seemed annoyed that the paparazzi were taking her picture - a stark contrast to the LiLo that we all know and love who smiles for the cameras during the day when she’s not doing anything wrong. Reportedly she was out until 3:30 am.

Review: Cloverfield

Review: Cloverfield

Category: Cinema & TV  - Posted by: rapvirus  on Jan 22nd, 2008

The film begins as a video depicting a government document, like a black box that recalls wreckage in airplane or train accidents, supposedly confiscated into the hands of experts. "Cloverfield" is the labeled government name of the amateur documenta...ry. It's probably the supreme amateur documentary revealing the best footage of how it all went down . Now it's going to play back to the audience in an unabridged "Blair Witch Project" format. What we start with is the obligatory character introductions including a bunch of twenty-somethings bidding their friend Rob (Michael Stahl-David) a farewell party before he embarks to Japan for work occupation. Hud (T.J. Miller) is the best friend and dependable wisecrack assigned to videotape the party and record testimonials from friends at the Manhattan apartment soiree. We get the standard boy-girl gossip and learn that Rob is in love with Beth (Odette Yustman), the vulnerable svelte hourglass-shaped hottie, although she's in the arms of another guy.
