Vanessa Hudgens Identifies With Purple PumpsCategory: Cinema & TV - Posted by: rapvirus on Jul 2nd, 2008Vanessa Hudgens leaves The Trump Hotel and arrives at an office building in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City on Tuesday afternoon. The 19-year-old High School Musical is in town to promote her sophomore album, Identified, which drops toda...y, July 1. Here are the positive things The Associated Press had to say about V’s album: “The title track is solid, as is ‘First Bad Habit. ‘Amazed,’ featuring Lil Mama, is arguably the album’s best track: The lip-gloss queen and the Disney star may even see a Top 40 hit with this one. All those songs were produced by Dr. Luke (Kelly Clarkson ‘Since U Been Gone,’ Katy Perry ‘I Kissed a Girl’); Clearly he should have played a bigger role in this CD. |

Vanessa Hudgen’s “Identified” — FIRST REVIEWCategory: Cinema & TV - Posted by: rapvirus on May 26th, 2008Entertainment Weekly has the first look at Vanessa Hudgens‘ sophomore release, Identified, out July 1. “[The album] definitely sophisticated,” Vanessa says. “But it’s also funky and fun–something that I would, like, actually listen to....” Here’s what EW had to say about three of the album’s tracks: “Sneakernight” — The thumping first single “is a fun song about hanging out with your girlfriends and wearing sneakers,” says Hudgens, who’s no stranger to stiletto-induced red-carpet cramps. “When I show the video, I was like, ‘I cannot believe I’m wearing sneakers for the first time in a music video!’ It was awesome.” “First Bad Habit” — Hudgens enlisted producer Dr. Luke (Kelly Clarkson, Pink) to pump synths into this sassy anthem “about when you like a hug so much but know he’s a complete a–hole.” Is said rapscallion like any particular man in her life? “It hasn’t happened to me, but a lot of my friends have gone through so much crap.” |

By seeing everything, kids today miss a lotCategory: Cinema & TV - Posted by: KingM on Jan 21st, 2008When it came to monitoring her impressionable youngster's media habits, my friend Holly was in way over her head. “My 9-year old son, Rylan, had a bunch of friends over, and they wanted to watch the movie ‘The Terminator,’” she told me. “I ...said, ‘You are not watching that movie! It's rated R and it's too violent.’ And they all looked at me and said, ‘We've already seen it.’” My friend literally threw up her hands. “They had all seen it already at another friend’s house, every single one of them, including my son. My girlfriend has a similar story about catching her son zooming to the Bada Bing strip club scenes on ‘The Sopranos’ DVD. You can't contain anything.” |

2-cup coffee habit may double miscarriage riskCategory: Other - Posted by: KingM on Jan 21st, 2008Drinking a couple of cups of coffee a day has long been considered safe during pregnancy, but a new study finds that even this modest amount of caffeine could double a woman’s risk of miscarriage. Doctors are split on what this means for pregnant w...omen, with some advising avoiding caffeine altogether and others saying buzz-inducing beverages are still safe in moderation. Previous studies have linked caffeine to an increased risk of miscarriage, but they have focused on higher doses and the connection has been controversial, with some experts arguing that the research didn't account for morning sickness. The nausea and vomiting of morning sickness, caused by elevated hormones, is generally a sign of a reduced risk of miscarriage — and also can lead women to stop drinking their usual coffee or other caffeinated drinks. The concern was that the cutback in caffeine among these women could make it appear caffeine was associated with miscarriage. |

Mars rovers find new evidence of 'habitable niche'Category: Other - Posted by: rapvirus on Dec 23rd, 2007Inch by power-conserving inch, drivers on Earth have moved the Mars rover Spirit to a spot where it has its best chance at surviving a third Martian winter -- and where it will celebrate its fourth anniversary (in Earth years) since bouncing down on ...Mars for a projected 90-day mission in January 2004. Meanwhile, researchers are considering the implications of what Cornell's Steve Squyres, principal investigator for NASA's Mars Exploration Rover mission, calls "one of the most significant" mission discoveries to date: silica-rich deposits uncovered in May by Spirit's lame front wheel that provide new evidence for a once-habitable environment in Gusev Crater. |
