Heidi and Spencer to Visit the Troops

Heidi and Spencer to Visit the Troops

Category: Cinema & TV  - Posted by: rapvirus  on Jul 23rd, 2008

The Global War on Terror just got a little douchier — The Hills’ Heidi Montag and her boyfriend Spencer Pratt are heading overseas to visit the troops, inspired by Heidi’s late stepbrother’s service in the Middle East. According to People mag...azine “My brother was an airborne ranger in Afghanistan and Iraq,” the Hills star [says] in an interview. “It’s very important to me and important to Spencer to support the troops and go over there.” Montag’s stepbrother, Eric O’Hara, 24, died in an accident in March at the Steamboat Springs, Colo., hotel where he worked. She’d better hope her only venue over there is a military hospital. Trust me, the only way some soldier is gonna stick around for all four and a half minutes of “Body Language” is if they’re missing their ambulatory means of escape or are completely deaf from all the roadside bombings.

Angelia Jolie and Brad Pitt just plunked down $1 million through their Jolie-Pitt Foundation to help children affected by the Iraq War. The Jolie-Pitt Foundation will provide $500,000 for school supplies and education programs for refugee chil...dren in Iraq and $500,000 for American children who either lost a parent deployed in Iraq or have a parent serving in that country. (Source) It's times like this, I see that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt really are kind, altruistic people; so maybe I should go on a moratorium of giving them shit. Well, unless they name their twins something stupid or she wears an ugly dress, of course. I'm only human, for chrissakes.

Former Bachelor star Andy Baldwin is dating The Donald’s ex, Marla Maples. The naval doctor has apparently been “quietly dating” the divorcee ever since he returned from a military mission in Palau. Wait. We thought they sent him to Iraq. Dr. B...aldwin dumped Tessa, the chick he met on the series. We knew that one was never going to work. Andy is stationed in Hawaii and the two went on a romantic getaway to the Hawaiian island of Lanai over the Easter weekend. A spywitness says, “On Easter morning, Andy and Marla helped kids at [their Four Seasons Hotel] search for Easter eggs and they had a great time.” The pair met last year and even spent New Year’s Eve together.

How do you like the new KITT?

How do you like the new KITT?

Justin Bruening played Mike Traceur, an Iraq war vet, who is the son of Michael Knight. Mike would be working in collaboration with KITT’s inventor’s daughter, to fight the bad guys. This new show featured the second generation of crime fighters.... It was kind of stale and could have been dubbed as “The Son of Knight Rider” instead. The original KITT has got a makeover. It is now a black Ford Mustang, instead of the former Pontiac Trans Am. The first episode premiered on Sunday night in the US. David Hasselhoff reprised his old role. On the tape, he returned to see his son when he turned up unannounced at his estranged wife’s funeral. One movie critic said that KITT was retro and it could no longer keep this IT generation captivated.

Angelina Jolie brought her star power to Baghdad on Thursday on a mission as a U.N. goodwill ambassador to highlight the plight of Iraqi refugees. The actress said there needs to be a more coherent plan as the more than 2 million internally displaced... Iraqis begin to trickle back to their homes amid a recent lull in violence that had threatened to spark a civil war in the country. “There’s lots of goodwill and lots of discussion, but there seems to be just a lot of talk at the moment,” Jolie said in excerpts of an interview aired on CNN.

Iraqi soldier 'killed US troops'

Iraqi soldier 'killed US troops'

Category: Politics  - Posted by: KingM  on Jan 5th, 2008

An Iraqi soldier has opened fire on American troops, killing two and wounding three others, US and Iraqi officials have said. The incident happened during a joint patrol in the north on 26 December, but fuller details have only now emerged. An Iraqi ...general said the patrol had come under fire from gunmen in the city of Mosul, but his soldier had "abused" the situation and shot the Americans. It is thought to be the first such case since the US-led invasion of 2003. The US initially reported the deaths of Capt Rowdy Inman, 38, and Sgt Benjamin Portell, 27, as resulting from hostile small arms fire. But Iraqi general Mutaa al-Khazraji said: "They [the joint patrol] were attacked by gunmen and the [Iraqi] soldier abused the situation and killed the two soldiers."

Iraq on Saddam anniversary alert

Iraq on Saddam anniversary alert

Category: Politics  - Posted by: KingM  on Dec 30th, 2007

Security forces in Iraq have been placed on alert on the first anniversary of the execution of former President Saddam Hussein. His supporters are expected to gather at his power base in the city of Tikrit, and at his grave nearby. Saddam was hanged ...after being convicted of the killings of nearly 150 Shia Muslims in Dujail in the 1980s. He was taunted by his executioners shortly before his death, conduct which embarrassed the Iraqi government. Scenes from the execution were captured on mobile telephones and quickly distributed around the world, prompting US President George W Bush, among others, to criticise the way the death sentence was carried out. The killing of the 69-year-old Sunni leader worsened the rift with Shia groups in Iraq. Iraqi officials conceded that some supporters would visit the grave where Saddam is buried next to his sons Uday and Qusay, who died in a gun battle with US forces in 2003.
