Colin Farrell: Covering for Heath LedgerCategory: Cinema & TV - Posted by: rapvirus on Mar 14th, 2008When Heath Ledger passed away this past January 22nd, he left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and fans. And he also left a movie role unfinished. The film’s director has subsequently recruited Colin Farell as one of the fill-ins fo...r the late actor in the upcoming flick “Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.” Farell arrived in Vancouver, Canada on Tuesday to begin filming the new movie, a task for which he had mixed feelings about signing on. Back in February he told press, “It makes me feel uncomfortable to think about it too much and get into it really here but it’s an incredibly painful honor to have, you know, and an honor I wish I wasn’t bestowed but an honor nonetheless.” |

“The Incredible Hulk” TrailerCategory: Cinema & TV - Posted by: rapvirus on Mar 13th, 2008Color me impressed. While I still don’t have high hopes for this film, I have to admit to being a little bit surprised that I actually sort of enjoyed this trailer. Like the Ironman trailer from a couple of weeks ago, we get a lot of our hero in hu...man form, while a little bit less of the CGI bullshit. The human drama is what makes these movies work; believe it or not, that’s the truth. Too much “Hulk smash” and it would get bogged down in it’s own nonsense. As all (almost “all”) of us know, the last Hulk movie was a steaming piss puddle. But since this movie is taking the franchise in a new direction - away from the comic book stuff and a little bit more like the 70’s television show - I have hopes that the stellar cast can make the most of this and be the first comic book movie in history to actually not suck. |

Sly Stallone Plans Another 'Rambo' SequelCategory: Cinema & TV - Posted by: rapvirus on Mar 13th, 2008Sylvester Stallone is planning a fifth Rambo film following the success of his ultra-violent 2008 sequel. The action man has revealed he's started writing a fifth installment of the franchise - but the next Rambo movie will be very different from the... shoot 'em up jungle adventures his character is most famous for. Stallone tells Swedish newspaper Metro, "I would like to take Rambo to another genre, experiment a little with the character. It would definitely not be another war movie. I can't go any further with that than what I've already done. What it's going to be like, I'm not going to reveal at this point. But I'm already halfway though writing the manuscript." Stallone's Rambo films started more than 25 years ago with First Blood. Rambo: First Blood Part II and Rambo III were released in 1985 and 1988 respectively. |

Bourne, Thor, Ant-Man UpdatesCategory: Cinema & TV - Posted by: rapvirus on Mar 12th, 2008Empire Magazine ran their awards show over the weekend, and the stars in attendance talked about their upcoming projects. Amongst them: Bourne 4 "We're all for doing a fourth movie but it means coming up with a good story. There are a lot of things ...that would have to happen before we would sign up for it" says Matt Damon. Director Paul Greengrass adds that "We're in the process of trying to work out what kind of film you could make. If there is one, what would it be? How it could go? Without any pressure; without any commitment to it, but everybody loved the franchise. We love it, but none of us would want to go again unless we're sure there's a worthwhile film and that could take some time. You don't want to do that when you feel like you've got to make it and none of us need to, so that's where we are." Thor Director Matthew Vaughn says "We're in a holding pattern at the moment. It's up to Marvel, they have to decide if they want to make the movie and then we take it from there." He adds that "the main role is going to be played by someone totally unknown. It can't be a star, it's got to be someone totally unknown... I think you have to respect that it is comic book and silly to be frank, so you have to combine that with a modern style and hopefully come up with something fresh. I think we can come up with something special." Ant-Man Director Edgar Wright says "It's written and we're doing a second draft of it. It's going to be less overtly comedic than anything else I've ever done. It's more of a full-on action adventure sci-fi film but with a comedic element - in the same spirit of a lot of escapist fare like that. It's certainly not a superhero spoof or pastiche." Which version of the hero would it be? "It could be Scott Lang, it could be Hank Pym, it could be both - okay it is both, now there's an exclusive for you." Edgar Wright's Next The director does confirm he'll do another film in his 'Cornetto trilogy' ("Shaun of the Dead" & "Hot Fuzz" being the first two), saying "That's one of the things that we're going to do with Working Title who we've just signed a two-picture deal with. It will have comedy and a cross-genre in a similar way... it'll be a trilogy in tone but I can't say any more than that." |

Alien Vs. Predator: Threequiem?Category: Cinema & TV - Posted by: rapvirus on Mar 11th, 2008File this under "rumour" for the moment, but it sounds all too plausible. According to an anonymous source who got in touch with horror site Shock Till You Drop, a third Alien Vs. Predator film is on the way, and it's going to be set back in space. ...Against all laws of nature, Alien Vs. Predator: Requiem has made $128.8 million worldwide, so a sequel was probably inevitable. In fact, the Strause brothers who directed it said that they felt the film "defintely" led in to a sequel, and that they gave 20th Century Fox "no choice" but to set that sequel in space. That is, assuming they're brought back for the job. |
