HEROES: Writers Strike Update, Ando Plays B-Ball, Ali Larter Sells ChocolateCategory: Cinema & TV - Posted by: Lion30 on Feb 6th, 2008A little Heroes news round-up for you guys, with the most important being a possible end to the ongoing writer’s strike. Again, let me stress the word possible, because let’s face it, haven’t we all heard this thing was coming to an end a hundr...ed times before? Well all the major newspapers are carrying this one, and it seems the WGA is THIS close to striking a deal that will end the strike and, if there is still time, allow Heroes and NBC to finish up Season 2. The AP had this on the story: An agreement to end the three-month-old Hollywood writers strike could be ready in time to avoid disrupting the Oscars but studios and the union are still haggling over the precise language, two people familiar with the talks said. The Writers Guild of America bargaining committee and board of directors received updates on the status of informal talks with studio executives, the pair said Monday. They were not authorized to comment publicly and requested anonymity. One of the people has said a formal deal is possible by the end of this week. |

Fergie & Josh says Wedding Plans in ‘Preliminary Stages’Category: Cinema & TV - Posted by: Rovtar on Jan 14th, 2008Josh Duhamel has his life in order – he has a hit TV show, stunning good looks and new fiancée. The only complication? Planning a perfectly fergalicious wedding. Recently engaged to Fergie, his girlfriend-of-three-years, the TV star said, “We...’re in the preliminary stages” of wedding preparations. (As for a potential date, the actor would only say “soon.”) His fiancée, a.k.a. The Dutchess, did not join Duhamel at Thursday’s 100th episode celebration for Las Vegas at the Palms Casino Resort – but their pending nuptials were clearly at the forefront of his mind. And Vegas, being the wedding capital of the world, wasn’t giving him any ideas, either. “Right now, we’re just figuring it all out,” he said, adding that they haven’t settled on a size or location for the ceremony. “We’re just enjoying it. It’s all great, though.” News of the couple’s engagement first broke on Christmas Day. “I feel like the luckiest girl in the world,” Fergie, 32, said soon afterward. “I’m thrilled.” Also thrilled: Duhamel, whose NBC show is still going strong in it’s fifth season. Joined castmates Molly Sims, Camille Guaty and James Lesure, the actor accepted the key to the city before dining at N9NE Steakhouse and retreating to a private cast party. |

Will Leno, O’Brien turn into train-wreck TV?Category: Cinema & TV - Posted by: KingM on Dec 29th, 2007Jay Leno, Conan O’Brien, Jimmy Kimmel and Jon Stewart all plan returns to late-night television the next two weeks, but aside from their familiar faces, viewers may not recognize much. After two months away because of the still-unresolved writers s...trike, NBC’s Leno and O’Brien, and ABC’s Kimmel, resume their programs next Tuesday, Jan. 2. Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert come back to Comedy Central the following Monday, Jan. 7. David Letterman is also pushing to return Jan. 2, but his Worldwide Pants production company is still trying to reach its own deal to bring his show’s writers back onboard. The hosts — with the exception of NBC’s Carson Daly — are also members of the striking Writer’s Guild of America, making them subject to union rules that would severely limit what they can do. |
