The Latest Additions To The Neverending Roster Of Brangelina Family Members Are ... Barack Obama And Hillary Clinton?Category: Cinema & TV - Posted by: rapvirus on Mar 26th, 2008Brangelina has yet to officially support any of the current presidential candidates, but now that they have learned that they're related to two of them, we can expect that an endorsement (or two!) is forthcoming. According to the New England Historic... Genealogical Society, Brad Pitt is "ninth cousins" with Barack Obama, and Angelina Jolie is coincidentally "ninth cousins" with Hillary Clinton. So will the couple happily add the Dems to their "soccer team" or will the wildly varying family trees tear 'em apart? After a bit of research, we discovered that even if the pair did welcome them into their many homes with welcome arms, one of the candidates isn't quite as enraptured with the Jolie-Pitts as the rest of the world... |

Barack Obama Rolling Stone Magazine March 2008 Photo InterviewCategory: Politics - Posted by: rapvirus on Mar 8th, 2008Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama is the featured cover story in this week’s edition of Rolling Stone Magazine. Throughout the primaries, and during a visit he paid to our offices, we have come to know Barack Obama, his toughness and ...his grace. He would not be intimidated, and he declined to back down, when Senator Clinton called him “frankly, naive” for his willingness to meet leaders of hostile nations. When one of her top campaign officials tried to smear him for his earlier drug use, he did not equivocate or backtrack. On the matter of experience and capability, he has run an impressive, nearly flawless campaign — one that whupped America’s most hard-boiled political infighters. Indeed, Obama was far more prepared to run a presidential campaign — from Day One — than Senator Clinton. And at no point did he go negative with personal attacks or character assassination; as much as they might have been justified, they didn’t even seem tempting to him. |

Elections 2008: Obama sweeps, Huckabee hangs toughCategory: Politics - Posted by: rapvirus on Feb 10th, 2008Many voters in Saturday's Republican contests showed they're not yet ready to support Sen. John McCain as their party's nominee while Sen. Barack Obama cut into Sen. Hillary Clinton's lead in the race for Democratic delegates. Obama claimed victory ...in Louisiana, Nebraska and Washington on Saturday, as well as in the Virgin Islands. "The stakes are too high and the challenges are too great to play the same old Washington game with the same old Washington players and expect a different result," Obama told a hugely supportive crowd of Democrats at the Jefferson-Jackson dinner in Richmond, Virginia. "People want to turn the page. They want to write a new chapter in American history." |

Race a subtext as polls open in South CarolinaCategory: Politics - Posted by: KingM on Jan 26th, 2008Democrats headed to the polls in South Carolina Saturday in an unusual contest that pitted Barack Obama against two Clintons. Race was a persistent subtext in the first primary to feature a large number of black voters. South Carolina became a "must ...win" state for Obama, whose momentum from his victory in the Iowa caucuses Jan. 3 began to fade after he lost contests in Nevada and New Hampshire to Hillary Clinton. A victory could help reinforce Obama's co-frontrunner status with Clinton, while a loss would severely imperil his candidacy. Polls showed Obama favored to win the state in large part due to his strong support among black voters, who are expected to comprise more than 50 percent of the electorate. The Illinois senator is running to be the first black president. |

Undecided voters watch Obama-Clinton fracasCategory: Politics - Posted by: KingM on Jan 25th, 2008It has now become fully a four-person race as the clock ticks down toward Saturday’s South Carolina Democratic primary. Two married couples, the Obamas and the Clintons are battling it out over who should be the nominee. Making the point that South... Carolina has become a referendum on Bill Clinton was the e-mail from Michelle Obama that popped into inboxes exactly at the moment the former president started speaking Thursday in Walterboro, S.C. (population 5,545). “In the past week or two, another candidate's spouse has been getting an awful lot of attention,” said Michelle Obama as she asked for a $50 donation to her husband’s campaign. “We knew getting into this race that Barack would be competing with Senator Clinton and President Clinton at the same time.… What we didn't expect, at least not from our fellow Democrats, are the win-at-all-costs tactics we've seen recently.” |

McCain, Romney in tight race as Mich. votesCategory: Politics - Posted by: KingM on Jan 15th, 2008John McCain sought to keep his momentum going strong. Mitt Romney looked to keep his candidacy afloat. And Mike Huckabee simply wanted to keep defying expectations. No matter the winner, the Republican presidential primary in Michigan on Tuesday prom...ised to add another wrinkle to a nomination fight that has defied a clear favorite. Snow fell across much of the state, half a foot before noon in some places, threatening to dampen turnout that was already expected to be light. In the state of his birth, Romney voiced edgy confidence in his chances and so did McCain, who won Michigan in the 2000 primary race. Outside a Baptist church in Warren, Huckabee was happy to see the freezing temperatures and snowfall, reasoning that his evangelical base would come out to vote when others less committed might not. "That can only be good for us because I think most of our voters are very focused. We hope so, anyway." |

Is She Leaving??Category: Politics - Posted by: KingM on Jan 7th, 2008There have been reports that Hilary Clinton may be leaving the Democratic presidential race. The female presidential hopeful has so far suffered a huge defeat in New Hampshire, a serious decrease in national polls and low fund-raising dollars. “She... can’t take multiple double-digit losses in New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada,” laments one top campaign insider to the Drudge Report. “If she gets too badly embarrassed, it will really harm her. She doesn’t want the Clinton brand to be damaged with back-to-back-to-back defeats.” |
