"I thought that was a fantastic idea," Eckhart told Usmagazine.com at the GQ Men of the Year party in L.A. on Nov. 18. It probably helps that only one other film has even accomplished that feat. Titanic hit $500 million in 91 days. Industry Analysts still predict a $520-$535 million domestic total, which would be $60 plus million shy of Titanic’s $600.8 million record.rapvirusMon, 01 Sep 2008 00:58:00 -0700http://www.blabberstar.com/news/view/the-dark-knight-breaks-500-millionCHER TO PLAY CATWOMAN?!? UK's telegraph is reporting that legendary 62-year old diva cher is in talks with director christopher nolan to take on the role of catwoman in the next batman film (which is set to start filming early next year in vancouver and will feature johnny depp Johnny Depp as 'the riddler') i almost passed out when i read this earlier this evening (i will totally do a 'happy happy joy joy' dance if this all turns out to come true) of course cher is an amazing actress (and even won an academy award in 1987 for her turn as 'loretta castorini' in moonstruck plus she was nominated for her work in 1983's silkwood) yet she hasn't acted in years (i believe her last film was 1999's super lackluster tea with mussolini and she made a lame cameo in 2003's stuck on you as herself) i'd love to see cher back up on the silver screen - especially as catwoman! rapvirusThu, 28 Aug 2008 00:04:37 -0700http://www.blabberstar.com/news/view/cher-to-play-catwoman-oh-my-goshJohn Mayer’s Dark Nighthttp://www.blabberstar.com/news/view/5337http://www.blabberstar.com/news/view/5337John Mayer leaves his New York apartment building looking glum and wearing a Batman hoody with Batman ears on it on Friday. Interestingly, Mary-Kate Olsen is also the only acquaintance of Heath’s refusing to talk to federal investigators. According to The Daily Mail MK is demanding “immunity from prosecution” before she’ll give any details about his death to the feds. Investigators believe the powerful painkiller [on which Heath overdosed] may have been obtained illegally and are desperate to find out where it came from. They contacted Olsen’s lawyer asking for the star’s help, but he has reportedly not allowed her to talk unless she is given immunity from prosecution. Everyone else connected to Heath has been interviewed by federal investigators. Everyone except Mary-Kate, who has refused to speak. Jeez, guilty much? Of course, once the media got a hold of this little tidbit, Olsen’s attorney issued the following statement: “Despite tabloid speculation, Mary-Kate Olsen had nothing whatsoever to do with the drugs found in Heath Ledger’s home or his body, and she does not know where he obtained them. Ms. Olsen does not know the source of the drugs Mr. Ledger consumed. These descriptions are incomplete and inaccurate.” Perhaps when under federal review, her decision to send her bodyguard instead of paramedics might be construed as “monumentally stupid” and “the final nail in his coffin.” Not to mention the all the decency laws she’s broken over the years wearing clothing that asinine. I’m sure there’s a substantial fine and mandatory jail time for those glasses at least.rapvirusWed, 06 Aug 2008 00:00:24 -0700http://www.blabberstar.com/news/view/mary-kate-wants-immunityMary-Kate Comments On Heath Ledger’s Deathhttp://www.blabberstar.com/news/view/5143http://www.blabberstar.com/news/view/5143Mary-Kate Olsen claims she doesn’t know where Heath Ledger got the drugs that killed him, her attorney says in a statement. MK, 22, believes she has already provided investigators with enough “relevant information” but the New York Post has reported she is refusing to talk to federal investigators about Heath’s death until she is granted immunity from prosecution. Her lawyer Michael C. Miller said, “Despite tabloid speculation, Mary-Kate Olsen had nothing whatsoever to do with the drugs found in Heath Ledger’s home or his body, and she does not know where he obtained them. Regarding the Government’s investigation, at Ms. Olsen’s request, we have provided the Government with relevant information including facts in the chronology of events surrounding Mr. Ledger’s death and the fact that Ms. Olsen does not know the source of the drugs Mr. Ledger consumed. We don’t know the source of the information being quoted in the media regarding the Government’s inquiry, but these descriptions are incomplete and inaccurate.”rapvirusTue, 05 Aug 2008 00:35:28 -0700http://www.blabberstar.com/news/view/mary-kate-comments-on-heath-ledger-s-deathJOHNNY DEPP LINED UP TO PLAY THE RIDDLER IN NEXT BATMAN FILMhttp://www.blabberstar.com/news/view/5076http://www.blabberstar.com/news/view/5076'The Dark Knight' has performed so well at the box office that producers are already working on casting the next instalment of the Batman story, once again to be directed by Christopher Nolan. In a frankly inspired piece of casting it is rumoured that they will be approaching Johnny Depp to play the role of the Riddler and attempt to breathe life into a character hammed to death by Jim Carrey in the truly awful 'Batman Forever'. Johnny's a lovely man so hopefully he won't prepare for the role in the same way as Heath Ledger did for the Joker (by seemingly going a bit dotty then dying). If this comes off it might be the first time the audience is cheering for the Riddler to give Batman a truly historic hammering.rapvirusFri, 01 Aug 2008 00:09:41 -0700http://www.blabberstar.com/news/view/johnny-depp-lined-up-to-play-the-riddler-in-next-batman-filmMore Details in Christian Bale’s Assault Arresthttp://www.blabberstar.com/news/view/4988http://www.blabberstar.com/news/view/4988Everyone was hoping that the Batman actor might have been arrested yesterday for verbally assaulting his mother and sister — what with England’s silly Class 4 and 5 “verbal assault with an intent to cause alarm” clauses — but no dice. It looks like there was actual physical contact between him and his mother. TMZ reports We’re told Bale pushed his mom out of the way during an altercation. She was not hurt and did not fall down. There’s a division of opinion on whether the contact was a “push” or a “brush.” Well, that doesn’t sound so bad, does it? I mean, who hasn’t wanted to push their nagging mother out of the way of the door so they could walk out of the room during an argument? So, it looks like this was all a big misunderstanding. Christian doesn’t have an unpredictable and violent temper. Right? Um, not exactly. TMZ goes on to say Bale was on the set last Friday shooting “Terminator 4.” During a scene, the director of cinematography screwed up a shot — at least in Christian’s mind. Bale went ballistic, screaming “I will kick your ass” along with other choice remarks. Several hundred people heard the outburst — including Military Police — which was described as “intense.” We’re told Bale was “extremely tired and having a bad day.” Okaaay… I guess… so maybe the day of the assault was just another “bad day” for Christian. He’s not like that all the time. *crosses fingers* Right? The Daily Mail says Christian can have a terrible temper. Instead of lashing out at his wife, he sometimes lashes out at people around him.’ Jesus, I give up. The only thing I got is that his mom was a former circus clown. And if there’s one thing my grandpa always told me, it’s that you can’t trust circus folk. He also told me that you couldn’t trust the Japanese and that redheaded people are lazy and that black people run faster than white people because they have an extra bone in their foot, so I wouldn’t exactly call him to the stand or anything. But hey, at least it’s something. rapvirusWed, 23 Jul 2008 07:20:35 -0700http://www.blabberstar.com/news/view/more-details-in-christian-bale-s-assault-arrestThe Dark Knight Breaks Box Ofice Recordshttp://www.blabberstar.com/news/view/4956http://www.blabberstar.com/news/view/4956The latest Batman flick, The Dark Knight, grossed an estimated $18.5 million so far, the most ever for midnight shows. But, while I imagine that Heath Ledger's The Joker is everything everyone says it is -- the best performance in a movie of all time, ever, until the end of time -- and that he deserves all the posthumous praise we can heap upon the man's grave (R.I.P. Heath!), can I just say this: Christian Bale ain't exactly chopped liver, people. Bale is top five one of the best actors of this generation, and along with Nolan, he resurrected the Batman franchise. He'll go down as the best Batman ever, and given the limitations of his character and that suit, I suspect that Bale warrants, natch, deserves some mad fucking props. So, go see The Dark Knight this weekend. Fawn all over Heath Ledger, rave about the man's performance and what a shame it is that he died so young, but don't forget about Bale, y'all. He's the reason there's even a sequel to Nolan's reboot in the first place.rapvirusFri, 18 Jul 2008 02:40:05 -0700http://www.blabberstar.com/news/view/chopped-liverBlake Lively is The Dark Knighthttp://www.blabberstar.com/news/view/4894http://www.blabberstar.com/news/view/4894On-and-off-screen Gossip Girl couple Blake Lively and Penn Badgley arrive at the world premiere of the new Batman movie, The Dark Knight, at AMC Loews Lincoln Square - IMAX on Monday in New York City. Batman fans and fellow critics are firing back, saying he just didn’t “get” the film. Edelstein gave the film a negative review due to violence and “morbid” factors that seem related to Ledger’s untimely death: The momentum doesn’t carry through, though. The Dark Knight is all fits and starts—fitfully suspenseful, fitfully scary, one jerky episode after another with jolts of brutality to keep you revved up. When Burton’s Batman came out, some prominent critics griped that the film was too violent for kids. Here’s a snippet of the interview: So much was made of Heath Ledger’s portrayal of the Joker. It was such a dark role. In some way, perhaps, do you think in real life, it caused him to slip across some line of reality and may have had some role in his accidental death? Personally, I find it to be a complete lack of understanding of acting. I also find it very rude to try to create some kind of sound bite for such a tragedy. The man was a complex man, a good man, but you know what? I saw him having the best time playing The Joker. He was someone who completely immersed himself in his role. As do I.
