Hilary Duff and her hockey player boyfriend Mike Comrie headed out to Villa Lounge in Los Angeles for a night on the town that ended in the wee hours of Wednesday morning (May 21). And despite the fact that his season’s over, it looks as if the... New York Islanders player must’ve picked up an injury on the ice - as he was walking on crutches. On another note, Hilary recently opened up to Los Angeles Confidential, discussing a reluctant costar in her new film, War, Inc. Duff told: “I really did [put a live scorpion down my pants]. It was scary. I grew up in Texas, and we had plenty of scorpions, but I never had to put one down my pants before. And my pants weren’t that baggy, so I couldn’t get any space. I did it a couple of times with it going down my leg, and it was terrifying. The little thing kept doing backbends because it obviously didn’t want to go in my pants, you know? Everyone on set was cheering!”

Tommy Lee Jones will adapt, direct, produce and star in a movie based on Ernest Hemingway's posthumously published novel "Islands in the Stream," says The Hollywood Reporter. Morgan Freeman and John Goodman also are in discussions to co-star. "...Islands" centers on the various life stages of a reclusive male painter named Thomas Hudson before, during and after World War II after he moves to the Bahamas. Like many Hemingway characters, Hudson, who in the tale has a stint working for the U.S. Navy and also endures a series of family tragedies, leads a complicated emotional life that he hides behind a stony exterior. Jones co-wrote the script with Bill Witliff, who wrote the screenplay for George Clooney's The Perfect Storm.

Hilary Duff promotes her new politically charged movie, War, Inc., in the latest of Los Angeles Confidential. In the John Cusack-directed film, The Duffster plays potty-mouthed Eastern European pop star Yonica Babiak. Here’s what Hil had to say ...to the mag: Your character speaks in a ridiculous dialect. Where did that come from? The first time I talked to John, he said, “You know, you have to have an accent.” The character is an Eastern European pop star. I didn’t even know where to begin. But the fun thing is, this place doesn’t even exist. Turaqistan is not a real country. So I played around and mixed a lot of things together! I talked in that accent as much as I could, even to my family and friends!

Kosovo's parliament declared the disputed territory a nation on Sunday, mounting a historic bid to become an "independent and democratic state" backed by the U.S. and European allies but bitterly contested by Serbia and Russia. Serbia immediately den...ounced the declaration as illegal, and Russia also rejected it, demanding an emergency meeting of the U.N. Security Council, which was set for Sunday afternoon. President Bush said the U.S. would work to prevent violence after the declaration and the European Union appealed for calm, mindful of the risk that the declaration could plunge the turbulent Balkans back into instability.

Legendary chess champion Bobby Fisher passed away at the age of 64-years-old. Fisher — whose life story influenced the 1993 film “Searching For Bobby Fisher” — became a Cold War hero after defeating Boris Spassky of the Soviet Union in 1972. ...The chess champ was well-known for his idiosyncrasies, eventually dropping away from the chess scene. He would occasionally come out of the woodwork to spew anti-semitic comments, the irony being his own mother was Jewish. He emerged from the shadows in 1992 to beat Spassky again in a re-match for $3.35 million. Rest in peace, Bobby Fisher.

Rosie O’Donnell & Elisabeth Hasselbeck: The War Is Over!

Category: Other  - Posted by: Rovtar  on Jan 13th, 2008

The feud between Rosie O'Donnell and Elisabeth Hasselbeck was one that not even the most hardcore pervert could have imagined turning sexual. But that's exactly what has hap… no, we're only joking. Rosie O'Donnell and Elisabeth Hasselbeck aren't... fighting any more, but only because Rosie though to send Elisabeth's newborn some gifts. Still, we had you with the sex thing, right? Right? The View has always been about disagreements, and it always will be - whether it's a disagreement about how much Danny DeVito has had to drink or about if murdering dogs is really brilliant or just quite brilliant. But no disagreements on The View were ever like the splitscreen battle royale between Rosie O'Donnell and Elisabeth Hasselbeck back in May. Founded on their inherent political differences - basically that one is a rightwing lunatic and the other is a paranoid conspiracy theorist - the Rosie O'Donnell/ Elisabeth Hasselbeck televised face-off was so vicious that we think it actually tore a hole in the space/time continuum. It'd explain a lot if it were true.
